What to watch on a Lamborghini
A Lamborghini is built for theater and speed, and it is serviced accordingly: low, wide, and with very little room for error. The cars are more durable than their reputation, provided they are maintained on time and driven often enough to keep everything moving.
Much of the engineering is shared with Audi. The Gallardo and Huracán V10s are close relatives of the engine in the Audi R8, and the Urus shares its platform and twin-turbo V8 family with Audi, Porsche and Bentley models. That is good news for an owner: parts and procedures are well understood.
The Aventador is Lamborghini's own: a naturally aspirated V12 behind the cabin, an automated single-clutch gearbox and pushrod suspension. It needs a shop that knows where its weaknesses lie and treats the car accordingly.
E-gear clutch wear on the Gallardo
Most Gallardos have e-gear, an automated single-clutch manual. The clutch wears faster than a conventional one, especially in stop-start traffic and when pulling away on a slope. Wear can be measured with the right diagnostic equipment, and a failing hydraulic pump shows up as slow or refused gear changes.
Aventador ISR gearbox and clutch
The Aventador's ISR gearbox is also an automated single-clutch design. It shifts with a deliberate jolt in its sportier modes, and clutch life depends heavily on how the car is driven. A clutch replacement is a substantial job, so tracking wear lets you plan it rather than be surprised by it.
Front-axle lift and low clearance
Many Lamborghinis have a front-axle lift that raises the nose for ramps and speed bumps. Its hydraulic parts can leak or fail with age, and a lift that no longer holds is worth fixing before the next driveway. Scraped splitters and chipped front edges are the price of a car that sits this low.
Huracán and Urus in regular use
The Huracán's V10 and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox are robust when serviced on schedule. The Urus is a heavy, very fast SUV with an eight-speed automatic and air suspension, so its carbon-ceramic brakes and large tires wear quickly and deserve close attention at every visit.
Cooling in a Texas summer
A mid-engined car carries coolant between radiators mounted well away from the engine and the engine behind your shoulders, through long pipes and hoses. Summer heat and traffic stress that circuit. Leaks, tired fans and radiators clogged with road debris are worth catching early.
Batteries on cars that sit
Most Lamborghinis spend more time parked than driven, and their electronics draw current even when locked. A weak battery on a Huracán or Aventador brings warnings and can stop the car from starting. Connect a conditioner whenever the car stands for more than a week or so.
Revs that will not settle, and a clicking parking brake
Two complaints Lamborghini owners bring us: an idle that hunts up and down instead of holding steady, and a clicking from the parking brake. Neither is one to live with. Both start with a full scan and a look on the lift, so the cause is found before any part is ordered.

Lamborghini questions
Can you service a Lamborghini Huracán or Aventador in Plano?
Yes. The Aventador and Urus on this page were photographed in our bay, and Huracáns and a Gallardo have featured on our Instagram. Each gets the same process: a full scan, a photo and video report, and work agreed with you before it starts.
How long does a Gallardo e-gear clutch last?
There is no honest single number. Stop-start traffic and pulling away on slopes wear it fastest; open-road driving is kind to it. Because wear can be measured, you can plan the replacement well in advance.
Is the Urus an Audi or a Porsche underneath?
It shares the Volkswagen Group's MLB Evo platform with the Audi RS Q8, Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga, and its 4.0 twin-turbo V8 belongs to the same engine family. Lamborghini tunes and equips it differently, and many parts are unique to it, but the shared foundation keeps it well documented.
Should I put paint protection film on my Lamborghini?
For most owners, yes, and the sooner the better. The nose sits low and takes the full force of grit on the tollway. A full front covers the bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors; full-body film protects the rest. Matte film is available for matte paint, so the finish keeps its look.
How often should a Lamborghini be serviced?
Lamborghini sets the schedule by time and mileage, and because most cars cover few miles, time usually decides. Fluids, brake fluid in particular, age whether the car is driven or not. We follow the factory schedule and tell you what the next visit will involve.
Does servicing my Lamborghini with you affect the warranty?
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot deny warranty coverage simply because an independent shop performed the maintenance, provided it follows the schedule and uses suitable parts. Recalls and warranty repairs still go to a Lamborghini dealer, at no cost to you.
