A BMW is an investment in how a car should drive. Like anything of value, it needs looking after. This guide covers the basics: routine maintenance, the repairs to expect, and why parts matter.
Routine maintenance
Regular maintenance is what keeps a BMW running at its best. As a baseline:
- Change the oil and filter about every 5,000 miles.
- Rotate the tires about every 10,000 miles.
- Have the brakes, suspension and other components inspected about every 15,000 miles.
- Check the coolant level regularly.
- Make sure every light on the dashboard is working as it should.
If your car's service display asks for work sooner, follow the car. And have it seen by a technician at least once a year, however little you drive. Small issues found early stay small.
Common repairs
However well a BMW is maintained, parts wear. Common items include:
- worn spark plugs
- clogged or damaged air filters
- faulty oxygen sensors
- hoses and seals that begin to leak
Most are straightforward when caught early. If something feels, sounds or smells different, have it checked by a professional before it becomes a larger repair.
Why parts matter
Parts designed for your model fit properly, use better materials and last longer than generic alternatives. On BMWs we use genuine BMW OEM parts, and our work is backed by a 12 months / 12,000 miles warranty.
In short
Keep to the schedule. Deal with small problems while they are small. Use the right parts. See our BMW service, or book a visit.
