What to watch on a Rolls-Royce Cullinan
The Cullinan, launched in 2018, is Rolls-Royce's first SUV and its first all-wheel-drive car. It sits on the aluminum Architecture of Luxury shared with the Phantom, with a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12, an eight-speed automatic, all-wheel steering and self-leveling air suspension. The Black Badge version followed in 2019, and a revised Series II in 2024.
What it asks of an owner
It is a very heavy car, and everything that carries its weight works hard: air springs, brakes, tires and suspension bushings. The electronics are extensive, and like every modern Rolls-Royce it should never be left to discharge its battery. The large, flat panels show every chip, which makes paint protection film worth considering from the start.
Air suspension and self-leveling
The Cullinan's air suspension levels the car constantly and lowers it for entry. Springs, lines and the compressor age like any air system's; a car that sits low on one corner after standing, or a suspension message, should be seen before the compressor is overworked.
Brakes and tires under a heavy car
The Cullinan is one of the heaviest passenger vehicles on the road. Brake pads and rotors, and its large tires, wear accordingly, and uneven tire wear is often the first sign of a tired suspension bushing.
Battery and electronics
Dozens of modules run the car, and several stay awake when it is locked. A Cullinan left for weeks without a conditioner can wake up with a flat battery and a list of messages. A battery test comes before any other diagnosis.
Coach doors and power closing
The rear-hinged coach doors close themselves at the touch of a button. Latches, motors and sensors all have to agree; a door that will not pull shut is often an adjustment or a sensor rather than a major repair.

Can the Cullinan be serviced outside the Rolls-Royce dealer?
Yes. Routine maintenance done to the schedule with suitable parts does not affect the factory warranty; the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects that choice. Recalls and warranty repairs are carried out, free, by a Rolls-Royce dealer.
Why is my Cullinan's suspension warning on?
Most often a leak in an air spring or line, or a compressor struggling to keep up. If the car sits level, drive it gently; if a corner has dropped, call first. We will find the leak and show you photos before any parts are ordered.
Is paint protection film worth it on a Cullinan?
The paint is deep and the flat panels show every chip, so film on the front end is a sensible minimum and full-body film protects every panel. The protection quote gives a starting range for your car.
